NCIS: Tony & Ziva Star Says [Spoiler]’s Shocking Death Will ‘Raise the Stakes Dramatically’ md01

Anybody else absolutely gutted after that shocking NCIS: Tony & Ziva death?

In case you missed it, Thursday’s episode reveals that it’s Martine and Jonah who are working against Interpol from the inside, not Martine and Henry. In fact, Henry ultimately joins Tony and Ziva in their fight to find out the truth behind 9.4. Unfortunately for Henry, his good deed goes highly punished. After a dramatic confrontation among all parties, Jonah stabs Henry in the chest and shoots him point-blank in the head. (Don’t worry, Tony and Ziva escape unscathed — for now!)

When TVLine spoke to James D’Arcy, who played the short-lived but memorable Henry, he told us that he knew about his character’s untimely demise when he signed on for the role.

“John McNamara, who created the show, is an old friend of mine,” he said. “We did a pilot nearly 20 years ago, and that nearly killed my career because it didn’t take off… And then he decided he wanted to do it a second time!”

D’Arcy adds that Henry’s death will have ripple effects throughout the forthcoming episodes.

“The fact that they’ve killed off a character that was pretty integral at this point in the show will raise the stakes fairly dramatically, because you really don’t know who’s the bad guy,” he teased.

D’Arcy says that as the stakes get higher, more and more questions will arise about the motives of the central Tony & Ziva characters — and their fates are not guaranteed.

“We don’t know who’s gonna die next,” D’Arcy shared. “You don’t know: Is Jonah the bad guy? Or is he working for somebody else, or what’s happening there? I think it leaves it pretty open to the idea that anyone could die at any time.”

How are you recovering from Henry’s brutal murder? And what do you make of D’Arcy’s ominous warning that there might be more violence to come?
