NCIS: Tony & Ziva Season 2 Chances Gets Promising Update From Star

NCIS: Tony & Ziva star Cote De Pablo has given a promising update on the chances of the successful NCIS spinoff show returning for a second season. The sixth spinoff in the NCIS franchise, Tony & Ziva premiered on Paramount+ on September 4, reuniting two fan favorite characters from the flagship show, for the first time since NCIS season 11.

Per TV Insider, De Pablo opened up on the chances of the show returning for a second season, and gave an optimistic update. She heaped praise on season 1, and on showrunner John McNamara, and stated that both she, and co-star Michael Weatherly, would be thrilled to revisit the characters if the show was to return. Check out her comments below:

“I think we’d be lucky to play these characters for — look, I’ll say this: Season 1 was like a dream. It was so much fun to go back and revisit these characters. Where this goes, we know not. All we know is that we had to do this. Michael and I felt we owed it to the fans. And so we’re really happy about this just being able to happen. We manifested it. It came together beautifully. We had [showrunner] John McNamara leading this. He came up with a world that is beautiful. I mean, visually. You saw how beautiful the backdrop of Europe is and how it almost is like a character in itself, like how that backdrop is its own sort of romantic character that allows the story to so beautifully be played out. We’re just grateful that we got a chance to do it, and the rest is the rest. If we got a chance to do it again, we’d be thrilled.”

What This Means For The Prospects Of Tony & Ziva Season 2

These are positive comments from De Pablo, and indicate that there is definite interest from the show’s leads over the idea of making season 2. Of course, the story will need to work, but the years the two characters spent apart, along with the trust issues they still have, means there is plenty of material to work with.

NCIS: Tony & Ziva season 2 could be a very real possibility, especially when considering how well the show has performed on streaming since its debut. While the series is set to conclude on October 23, there are seven more episodes set to air, and this means Tony & Ziva could even rewrite the entire NCIS franchise.

Our Take On The Chances Of A Tony & Ziva Season 2 Renewal

If the show continues to dominate the streaming charts, and remains popular with NCIS legacy fans, there is a strong chance that Tony & Ziva is going to get a season 2 renewal sooner rather than later. The fact De Pablo and Weatherly seem interested in returning for another season should go a long way toward helping with a renewal.

There is also the capacity for crossover opportunities, and special guest appearances from some of the NCIS alum, especially with an Easter egg already name-dropping McGee. Should Tony & Ziva receive a season 2 renewal, it would go a long way toward growing the franchise, and fleshing out two fan favorite characters even more.
