NCIS season 23 is coming in fall 2025, but when could we expect the premiere to air?

Good news for NCIS fans: Season 23 of the series will still be on CBS’s fall schedule. While not much has changed, CBS is moving NCIS back to its familiar time slot — Tuesdays at 8/7c — which seems like a logical move for the series’ future.

CBS has not yet announced an official air date, but based on previous seasons, NCIS season 23 will likely premiere on Tuesday, October 7, 2025. Moving it later than the usual September schedule helps to avoid mid-season hiatus, which can be frustrating for viewers.

Season 22 Finale: “Nexus”
In the final episode of last season, the NCIS team investigated a dangerous connection between the Nexus gang and Parker’s longtime nemesis, mafia boss Carla Marino. They uncovered a large-scale conspiracy involving stolen nuclear material. Parker is forced to team up with an unlikely ally to save the operation – and himself.

What to expect in season 23
Parker’s father’s death, orchestrated by Carla, promises to be the starting point for his emotional journey of revenge. Additionally, season 23 is expected to restore the depth of character that has been lost as the series has focused too much on “cases of the week.”

Notable Episode: “Foreign Bodies”
A new case breaks out when one of Director Vance’s men is murdered just as he prepares to hold diplomatic talks with Venezuela. The episode will air Monday, October 21, at 9–10 p.m. (ET/PT) on CBS and Paramount+.

Reminder: NCIS is moving to Tuesdays – making for a full “NCIS Night” for fans of the long-running crime drama.
