Sean Murray is excited about the energy surrounding NCIS Season 23 — and fans have plenty to look forward to as the series approaches its milestone 500th episode.
“I really like the way things are going this year,” Murray, who has played Special Agent Timothy McGee since 2003, told Us Weekly. “We’ve got a lot of really interesting, different episodes coming up.”
A Special 500th Episode
Murray hinted that the landmark episode will include some surprises for longtime viewers. “We’ve got a super cool thing that I can’t really talk about… but it’s going to be really, really good,” he said. He teased the return of a familiar face from the NCIS universe, promising that fans will see someone they haven’t seen in years. While an official air date hasn’t been announced, it’s expected around the halfway point of Season 23.
McGee’s Big Family News
Fans won’t have to wait long for personal drama, either. Murray revealed that McGee will be at the center of a major story involving unexpected family news. “People that are into McGee, the longtime fans, I think will especially enjoy this,” he teased.
Torres and Knight Romance
The possible romance between Nick Torres (Wilmer Valderrama) and Jessica Knight (Katrina Law) is set to heat up. Murray confirmed that fans will see “movement” in their relationship this season, exploring their evolving connection while keeping viewers guessing.
Earlier episodes have hinted at the romance, including Torres’ jealousy over Knight’s interactions with night-shift agent Dale Sawyer. McGee’s fan fiction subplot even playfully mirrored the possible real-life romance between Torres and Knight.
