After four seasons airing on Mondays, the long-running CBS procedural is making a nostalgic move for its upcoming Season 23, returning to its classic Tuesday night time slot. The shift brings the show full circle, aligning it with its original broadcast tradition that dates back to its 2003 debut.

In a joint Instagram announcement this week, CBS Studios and the NCISverse (which includes NCIS, NCIS: Origins, and NCIS: Sydney) revealed that all three series will premiere on Tuesday, October 14.
The post simply read: “Tuesdays, we’re coming home,” and was quickly flooded with excitement from fans and cast alike. NCIS: Sydney star Sean Sagar chimed in with: “Take over Tuesdays!! Can’t wait for you all to see what we have been solving down under.”
One fan summed it up perfectly: “Welcome home, NCIS!”
What to Expect in Season 23

“We really want to get to everybody in a big way,” Binder told TVLine. “I know people always say, ‘I watch the show for the characters’ — that was always our thing — and I really want to make this a character-forward show in a way we haven’t seen before.”
Binder’s comments hint at deeper storylines and emotional arcs for fan-favorite characters like Nick Torres (Wilmer Valderrama), Alden Parker (Gary Cole), and Timothy McGee (Sean Murray). It’s a move that mirrors the narrative approach of the recent prequel NCIS: Origins, which centers on a young Leroy Jethro Gibbs and explores the personal history that shaped the beloved team leader.
