Lights, camera, Point Break! It looks like NCIS: Origins co-stars Austin Stowell and Mariel Molino are taking their on-screen chemistry off set — at least for one movie night.
The rising stars behind CBS’s newest NCIS prequel — where Stowell plays a young Leroy Jethro Gibbs and Molino portrays Special Agent Lala Dominguez — were spotted catching an outdoor screening of Point Break on Saturday, August 2. The film was part of Cinespia’s cult-favorite summer series held at the iconic Hollywood Forever Cemetery, presented by Amazon MGM Studios and Prime Video.
While no red carpet was involved, the two actors turned heads among fans attending the screening, posing for casual snaps and chatting animatedly throughout the night.
Work Comes First — For Now
Austin, who has quickly captured the attention of longtime NCIS fans for his take on a younger version of Mark Harmon’s beloved Gibbs, recently opened up about his relationship status — and it seems his primary commitment is to the job.
“I’m in a relationship with a TV show,” he told People earlier this summer. “I am here Monday through Friday … Remember those 300 people that I was telling you about? They are all my boyfriends and girlfriends.”
Still, that doesn’t mean romance is off the table for good. Stowell also shared that when the time is right, kindness is at the top of his list in a partner.
“I think the way that someone treats someone on the street — you can really learn a lot about them in those moments,” he said, adding that genuine compassion goes a long way.
Are Sparks Flying Off Set?
Though neither actor has confirmed any romantic connection, fans are already buzzing over their natural rapport — both in early teasers for NCIS: Origins and now during their off-duty hangouts.
Molino, known for her previous roles in Promised Land and The Watchful Eye, plays Lala Dominguez, a new character crafted especially for the prequel series. As Gibbs’s colleague and potential confidante, she’s expected to play a pivotal role in shaping the younger Gibbs we eventually come to know.
Their onscreen dynamic is already drawing comparisons to classic NCIS duos — and seeing them bond outside the set only adds to the intrigue.
What’s Next for ‘NCIS: Origins’?
With production in full swing and buzz steadily growing, NCIS: Origins is poised to be one of the most anticipated premieres of the coming season. Set in the early days of Gibbs’s career, the show explores his first steps into the world of Naval Criminal Investigative Service, long before he became the stoic team leader fans adored for nearly two decades.
As for Stowell and Molino? Whether they’re just friends or something more, one thing is certain: they’re making the most of their time in the spotlight — and off set, they’re enjoying L.A. summer nights just like the rest of us.
