‘NCIS,’ ‘Matlock,’ and More CBS Favorites Set Fall 2025 Release Dates

As summer winds down, CBS is wasting no time building excitement for the fall as the network has unveiled its schedule for the much-anticipated new TV season. Given the wave of cancellations that shook fans towards the end of last season, some beloved staples like Blue Bloods, FBI: Most Wanted, and The Equalizer are, sadly, missing this time around (farewell, old friends). But as we say goodbye to long-running hits, CBS is hoping to win us over with a slate of new titles ready to fill the void. The bulk of these new offerings come in the form of spin-offs, stepping up to build upon the legacy of their predecessors. From dramas and procedurals to comedies, the fall schedule is packed, and we can’t wait to see how it unfolds.

CBS’s fall schedule officially kicks off on Sunday, October 12, with a special event night featuring the Kathy Bates-led legal drama Matlock and the star-studded comedy Elsbeth, offering audiences sneak peeks at the new seasons. Both series will then settle into their regular Thursday time slots later that week, airing at 9 p.m. and 10 p.m., respectively, when their new seasons officially premiere. Over on Monday, October 13, FBI, now the lone survivor of its once-sprawling franchise, returns for its eighth season at 9 p.m. While the network had initially teased that the Tom Ellis-led spin-off FBI: CIA would launch alongside the flagship this fall, the project has now been delayed to midseason following a creative overhaul.

CIA’s delay clears the way for the return of fan favorite Watson, which will now take its slot with the Season 2 premiere airing Monday, October 13, at 10 p.m. Earlier in the night, the half-hour comedy The Neighborhood returns for its eighth season (also its final season) at 8 p.m., followed by the debut of new comedy series DMV at 8:30 p.m. The NCIS franchise will dominate Tuesdays with the mothership leading the lineup on Tuesday, October 14, at 8 pm, leading into NCIS: Origins at 9 pm and NCIS: Sydney at 10 pm, marking the first time the entire franchise airs back-to-back on a Tuesday night.

‘Tracker,’ ‘Blue Bloods’ Spin-off Will Premiere New Episodes This October

Friday, October 17, brings the debut of two highly anticipated spin-offs, starting with Fire Country’s offshoot Sheriff Country, airing at a special time of 9 p.m., followed by Blue Bloods’ Donnie Wahlberg-led spin-off, Boston Blue at 10 p.m. Then, on Sunday, October 19, the Justin Hartley-led fan and critic favorite Tracker returns for its third season in its regular 8 p.m. slot. Season 3 promises even more intrigue as Colter Shaw is set to uncover even more of his family’s secrets.
