NCIS: Los Angeles to End with Season 14 — No Season 15 on CBS

It’s official: NCIS: Los Angeles will not be returning for the 2023–2024 television season. CBS has announced that the long-running procedural will come to a close on May 14 with the series finale of its 14th season. After 322 episodes, the show cements its legacy as one of the network’s longest-running primetime dramas.

The action-packed series stars Chris O’Donnell, LL Cool J, Linda Hunt, Daniela Ruah, Eric Christian Olsen, Medalion Rahimi, Caleb Castille, and Gerald McRaney. It follows the high-stakes missions of the NCIS team based in Los Angeles, a division responsible for tracking and apprehending dangerous criminals who threaten national security. Leading the charge are Special Agent “G” Callen (O’Donnell), a master of disguise, and his partner Sam Hanna (LL Cool J), a former Navy SEAL. Their elite team also includes tech expert and manager Hetty Lange (Hunt), fearless field agent Kensi Blye (Ruah), undercover veteran Marty Deeks (Olsen), intelligence analyst Fatima Namazi (Rahimi), and ex-FBI agent Devin Rountree (Castille). Retired Admiral Hollis Kilbride (McRaney) oversees operations and keeps the team focused.

The show’s 14th season has averaged a 0.39 rating in the 18–49 demo and around 4.46 million viewers, reflecting a 21% drop in the demo and a 16% decline in total viewership compared to the previous season, based on live+same day data (including DVR viewing until 3 a.m.).

Although its cancellation came as a surprise—especially after the successful crossover event with NCIS and NCIS: Hawai’i—the decision was communicated to the cast and crew, according to Deadline. The high production costs of a long-running series may have been a factor, despite its consistent performance.

CBS is ensuring the show gets a proper conclusion. Network president Amy Reisenbach shared her appreciation in a statement:

“For 14 seasons, NCIS: Los Angeles has been a staple of our lineup, driven by unforgettable characters and gripping stories. From the start, the cast, crew, and producers have been incredible partners. Their dedication and creativity were evident in every episode. We’re immensely thankful for their contributions and will give them the farewell they and the fans truly deserve.”

While this chapter closes, there’s always a chance the franchise could be revisited in the future, much like CSI and Criminal Minds, which have both seen revivals. For now, fans can look forward to a final, emotional sendoff celebrating over a decade of action, camaraderie, and service.
