Series finale scheduled for May, closing out a 14-season run.
CBS has officially confirmed that NCIS: Los Angeles will wrap up its long run with the conclusion of its current season. The final episode — marking the 322nd in the series — will air on Sunday, May 14.
The popular NCIS offshoot, originally developed by Shane Brennan, made its debut in 2009 and has starred Chris O’Donnell, LL Cool J, and Daniela Ruah from the start. Eric Christian Olsen joined in the last episodes of season 1 and became a full-time cast member by season 2.
“For 14 seasons, NCIS: Los Angeles has been a cornerstone of our programming, featuring a cast of characters that viewers truly connected with,” said Amy Reisenbach, president of CBS Entertainment. “From the very beginning, the cast, crew, and producers have been fantastic collaborators. Their passion and talent have always come through onscreen. We deeply appreciate everything they’ve contributed to CBS, and we’re committed to giving them — and the fans — the grand send-off they deserve.”
Thanks to the early announcement of the show’s ending, showrunner R. Scott Gemmill and his team have time to craft a thoughtful and satisfying conclusion for loyal fans. Despite its continued success — NCIS: LA remains the top-rated show in its Sunday night time slot — CBS has opted to bring the series to a close.
“I’m incredibly thankful to the network and studio for their unwavering support, and to Shane Brennan for creating such a dynamic universe for us to work in,” Gemmill said in a statement. “I also want to recognize my fellow producers — John P. Kousakis, Frank Military, Kyle Harimoto, and Andrew Bartels — for their dedication and teamwork. Our crew has become like family, and their commitment has been a crucial part of our success.”
Gemmill also gave special thanks to the cast, whose performances brought the show’s characters to life. “To the fans who have been with us all these years — thank you. We’re working hard to deliver a conclusion that truly honors the journey of these beloved characters.”
After the announcement, LL Cool J celebrated the show’s legacy on Instagram, sharing:
“This NCIS crossover was a major hit! A huge thank you to our millions of fans worldwide! Some of our best ratings in years. After 14 seasons, this feels like the perfect time to wrap up NCIS: LA at the top of our game!”
Eric Christian Olsen also acknowledged the moment with a heartfelt message:
“What an incredible adventure we’ve had together.”
Alongside O’Donnell, LL Cool J, Ruah, and Olsen, the series’ current cast includes Linda Hunt, Medalion Rahimi, Caleb Castille, and Gerald McRaney.
