NCIS: Los Angeles Set to Reopen the Case in Major Return md14

The “NCIS” franchise is keeping one of its key architects firmly in place.

David J. North, co-creator and showrunner of “NCIS: Origins,” has signed an overall deal with CBS Studios. The agreement ensures he will continue leading the prequel into its third season, which has already been confirmed.

While North remains, co-creator Gina Lucita Monreal will exit the series at the end of its current second season. Beyond “NCIS: Origins,” North will also develop new projects for CBS across both traditional broadcast and streaming platforms.

“NCIS: Origins” dives into the early days of Leroy Jethro Gibbs, the character made famous by Mark Harmon. In the prequel, Gibbs is portrayed by Austin Stowell, with Harmon and his son Sean Harmon serving as executive producers alongside North.

The series returns from its winter break on March 3.
