Now, that journey continues with a newly signed overall deal at CBS Studios. North, who co-created “NCIS: Origins,” will remain as showrunner through the already-renewed third season. His co-creator, Gina Lucita Monreal, will depart after Season 2.
The prequel follows a young Leroy Jethro Gibbs, portrayed by Austin Stowell, exploring the formative years of the character originally played by Mark Harmon. Harmon and Sean Harmon executive produce alongside North.
North’s connection to the franchise dates back to its first season, when he joined as support staff. Over the years, he climbed the ranks, worked on several other dramas, and ultimately returned to help shape the next chapter of the Gibbs legacy.
“NCIS: Origins” resumes airing on March 3.
