Eric Christian Olsen, beloved NCIS: Los Angeles alum and co-producer of Matlock, is celebrating a beautiful new beginning — and it comes in the form of an 11-pound, 4-ounce bundle of joy.
He and wife Sarah Wright Olsen, actress and podcast host, have officially become a family of six, welcoming their fourth child, daughter Ocean Rain Olsen, into the world on June 17 at 12:37 a.m.
🌧️ “She’s here!! Ocean Rain Olsen… Grateful beyond words for our amazing team that helped us get her here safely during an incredibly complex birth.”

🌊 A Name to Remember
The couple revealed their daughter’s poetic and powerful name, Ocean Rain Olsen, in a heartfelt Instagram post featuring:

Sarah credited Nikki Reed (actress and mom of two with husband Ian Somerhalder) for capturing the emotion-filled photos, writing:
“Photos 2 and 3 by @nikkireed who stayed with us all night to document this day.”
💔 Fire, Loss, and Resilience
Ocean’s arrival comes just months after the Olsens lost their longtime Los Angeles home in the catastrophic January wildfires — a devastating experience that displaced the family of five (including their dogs).
Sarah wrote at the time:
“We lost our home… But we are together and safe. Thank you to Uncle Dave and Aunt Dani who took in so many of us.”
“Uncle Dave” and “Aunt Dani” refer to Eric’s brother, stuntman David Paul Olsen, and his wife Daniela Ruah, Eric’s NCIS: LA co-star. The couple opened their doors and hearts to support the family through unthinkable loss.

🧭 Finding Hope in Hardship
Speaking with Entertainment Tonight, Olsen reflected on navigating tragedy:
“I want to redefine the word tragedy… it’s really just an obstacle.”
In a moment of wisdom, he shared a touching memory with daughter Esme about choosing your perspective:
“You get to decide what lens to put on. The beauty of that story is: you’re the hero.”
✨ New Life, New Chapter
After 13 years in the same home, four children, and a career that spanned 14 seasons of NCIS: LA, Eric and Sarah have seen both fame and fire. But through it all, they’ve chosen resilience, love, and optimism.
“There’s a lot of obstacles,” Eric says, “but we’re doing good.”
And now, with Ocean Rain in their arms, they’re doing even better.
