But that’s not all! While we’ll see the return of beloved characters such as Timothy McGee, Nick Torres, Jessica Knight, Alden Parker, and others, the premiere will also introduce a major new character whose arrival will surely bring some drama.

According to TVLine, Nancy Travis has joined the NCIS season 23 cast as Navy Vice Admiral Harriet Parker. She will play the sister of Gary Cole’s character, Special Agent Alden Parker. Harriet will make her first appearance in the two-part season 23 premiere. Her presence will reportedly reveal more details about Alden’s past, showing how his childhood experiences shaped who he is today.

NCIS has provided some of Alden’s backstory in the past, revealing that he wasn’t always the disciplined agent we see him as in the series. As a child, he struggled with troublemaking and spent time in a juvenile detention center. As reported by TVLine, Harriet was the complete opposite as a kid. In NCIS season 23, we’re going to see them reunited as adults following their father’s recent murder. Their old sibling dynamic quickly resurfaces, bringing tension and unresolved conflict that threaten to complicate their professional lives.
