NBC’s hit One Chicago franchise is staying strong with familiar faces returning across all three shows — Chicago Fire, Chicago PD, and Chicago Med. Key cast members have signed new contracts, confirming their return for the 2025–26 television season.
Among those confirmed to continue are Jason Beghe (Chicago PD), Taylor Kinney and Miranda Rae Mayo (Chicago Fire), and S. Epatha Merkerson and Oliver Platt (Chicago Med). Dermot Mulroney, who joined Chicago Fire in season 13 as Chief Dom Pascal, will also be back for another season.
According to Deadline, all three series have been renewed for 21 episodes each for the upcoming season. However, to manage production costs, not all regular cast members will appear in every episode.
NBC’s decision comes after a successful run this past season, capped by several storylines that set the stage for major developments. In particular, Chicago Fire’s season finale left fans with a big surprise, as Kelly Severide and Stella Kidd discovered they’re expecting a baby — a storyline that will likely play a central role next season.
While each show continues to hold its own, their combined strength is part of what makes One Chicago a midweek ratings powerhouse for NBC. Their January 29 crossover event earned season-high viewership numbers across the board in Live+7 ratings.
NBC has confirmed all three shows will return this fall, though specific premiere dates are still to be announced.
