CBS has released the first official trailer for Sheriff Country, the highly anticipated Fire Country spinoff starring Morena Baccarin. The full trailer reintroduces viewers to Mickey as she takes charge in her hometown as Edgewater County’s newly appointed sheriff.
“I challenge you to imagine the community that we are,” Mickey says in the opening moments. “And to work together to make that happen.” Sounds ideal — until the trailer quickly dives into the mess of small-town crime, family feuds, and old secrets that Mickey must navigate. Fans of Fire Country will remember Mickey’s earlier appearances, where she butted heads with her estranged sister Sharon (played by Diane Farr) and stirred up old resentment by busting her teenage nephew Bode. Now, with her own show, Mickey’s stepping into the spotlight — and it’s not going to be an easy ride. In addition to murder investigations and town politics, she’s also juggling her ex-con father’s marijuana farm and fallout from her own daughter’s addiction struggles.
“You are Edgewater’s finest,” Sharon tells her in the new trailer — but that affirmation doesn’t mean the past has been forgotten.
What Can We Expect From ‘Sheriff Country’?
The character-driven drama is clearly leaning into a more grounded, interpersonal style compared to Fire Country’s large-scale emergencies. As Michele Weaver, who plays deputy Cassidy, told Us Weekly, who debuted the trailer, the stakes in Sheriff Country are different by design.
“It’s not as catastrophic necessarily. It’s more about people issues. What’s really exciting is seeing the dynamic between the citizens of the city that we already know and love — in a new way.”
“We know that people love that world already, which is a bonus… But at the same time, because they already love it, we want to make sure that we don’t turn them off or disappoint them.”
