More Than Supernatural Easter Eggs: Jensen Ackles Also Unravels Tracker’s Biggest Mystery

Tracker season 1 is coming to an end with the finale dropping next week, and some brand new details introduced in the latest episodes prove that the show’s upcoming season could focus on family drama.

The penultimate episode officially brings Colter’s brother Russell, played by Jensen Ackles, to the screen, with both characters still facing the investigation into their father’s mysterious death.

Tracker’s finale airs on May 19. The next season of Tracker will undoubtedly delve deeper into Colter Shaw’s family past as the final episodes of the first season reveal more and more of the show’s big mysteries.

While Colter initially tried to avoid his family issues, the penultimate episode introduced his brother Russell, played by Supernatural star Jensen Ackles, who now has no choice but to finally reunite with Colter to face the circumstances surrounding their father’s death all those years ago.

The twelfth episode, titled Off the Books, now features a pretty big contrast to what viewers saw in the first episode of the first season. The first episode of Tracker clearly shows Colter having flashbacks to his father’s sudden death in the woods, which surprisingly involves his brother Russell, who is later accused of pushing his father to his death.

Even though Colter’s father is introduced as a non-conformist man with a difficult relationship with his sons (it just keeps making Supernatural…), Colter still can’t believe Russell could do this to his father. Colter is then shown being tortured by all the intrusive thoughts of his past while trying to suppress them through work.

Jensen Ackles’ appearance on the show as Colter’s estranged brother not only brings in some iconic Supernatural references that true fans have latched onto right away, but also reveals some of Tracker’s darkest storylines yet.

Episode twelve sees Colter and Russell finally sit down for the inevitable and fraught talk as Russell makes it clear that he didn’t push his father.

The question of whether Russell’s account can actually be trusted remains, though he later goes into more detail by saying that there was someone else in the woods that night, specifically a man Russell saw before he spoke to the brothers’ mother.

The whole plot becomes even more complicated when previous episodes of Tracker see Colter’s sister Dory speaking out about their mother, who wasn’t completely honest with them about the circumstances of their father’s death.

Russell then adds that his mother eventually forbade him from talking to anyone about what happened in the woods, thus strongly implying that she actually has something to hide from the rest of the family.
