Chicago Fire original cast member Monica Raymund just confirmed on Twitter that she is leaving NBC’s firefighter drama after six seasons.
“It has been an honor to play Dawson on Chicago Fire and one of the most meaningful experiences of my life,” Raymund wrote. “I am so thankful for the journey and especially to all of you for watching, but I have made the decision that it’s time for me to move on to the next chapter in life.”
Raymund was one of five original Chicago Fire series regulars whose initial contracts expired after Season 6 and among the three, including Eamonn Walker and David Eigenberg, who had not been approached about signing new deals ahead of time. (The other two, Jesse Spencer and Taylor Kinney, closed pacts for Season 7 earlier this season; Walker just inked a new contract.)
Raymund had not been expected to continue on Chicago Fire, I hear she bid farewell to the cast and the crew as they were wrapping Season 6.
Raymund was the most prominent female cast member on the Wolf Entertainment/Universal TV drama. She played Paramedic in Charge/Firefighter Candidate Gabriela “Gabby” Dawson. Chicago Fire‘s season finale this week included a cliffhanger featuring her character that accommodates her exit.
