NCIS star Michael Weatherly has revealed an Easter Egg that fans have missed for 20 years – a subtle hint that hints at Kate Todd’s death.
Before Tony DiNozzo (Michael Weatherly) became famous for his comedic and romantic relationship with Ziva David (Cote de Pablo), he was the partner of Kate Todd (Sasha Alexander), a former agent of the US Presidential Protective Team.
Throughout the first two seasons of the CBS police drama, Tony and Kate worked closely under the guidance of Agent Gibbs (Mark Harmon). Their relationship was more than just colleagues, it was also one of trust and mutual support in many stressful situations.
However, everything changed in a surprising way in the season two finale, titled Twilight. In this episode, the NCIS team is hunting down terrorist Ari Haswari (played by Rudolf Martin). While the team is having a quick meeting on the roof of a building, a dangerous situation occurs: Kate is shot and killed on the spot, with a fatal shot to the head.
Kate’s shocking death not only shocked the characters on the show but also completely changed the landscape of NCIS, taking the show to a new level with more suspense and depth.
However, Michael Weatherly revealed that observant viewers may have noticed the clues that foreshadowed this death very early on.
