It’s time for a new member to join NCIS, but it’s probably not a member everyone wants. And it looks like Jimmy is the one who gets to introduce this new team member around. You will not want to miss NCIS season 23 episode 8.
There are still two episodes of NCIS before the winter break, and this is the first of them. Not only will the team get a new member to aid with an investigation, they’ll get a case that involves a thief and stolen time. Yes, really!

As you can see from the images, Vance is handing Jimmy the new team member. It happens to be an AI chatbot that is being beta-tested by the Department of Justice. For some reason, Parker’s team is the one that gets to run the tests, but I’m not entirely sure why Jimmy is the one to handle it.
Out of everyone in the team, Kasie or McGee seem like the best two people. They are both the most tech savvy people in the unit, but then maybe that’s the problem. Maybe they’re too tech savvy, and maybe they’re too suspicious of AI. I do find it amusing that McGee has an AI helper in his books based on Kasie, and now we get an AI chatbot to aid with an investigation.
I suppose out of everyone, Jimmy will be the one most excited to test out the new technology. It’s also possible that the chatbot is there to help his side of the job and not the actual investigation.
A thief who has stolen time on NCISEmpty heading
As for the case of the week, the team is called in when the Secret Service shoots a man outside the vice president’s official residence. Based on the promo, this man was a thief, who has stolen time somehow. Of course, this is going to lead to a run of jokes about being late for things or forgetting about something due to the loss of time.
The episode has been written by Brian Dietzen, who plays Jimmy on the series. He has co-written and written episodes in the past, with the most notable being the tribute to Ducky (and to David McCallum within that), so we’re sure that this is going to be another great episode in the bag.
