PEOPLE has an exclusive sneak peek at Tuesday’s episode, with an unexpected ‘Big Bang’ costar playing Rauch’s love interest
Fans of The Big Bang Theory will not object to the upcoming episode of Night Court.
Ahead of Tuesday’s episode, PEOPLE has an exclusive sneak peek at the reunion between star Melissa Rauch and with her former Big Bang castmate Kunal Nayyar.
Raunch’s character Judge Abby Stone is feeling unlucky in love and shares her woes with Donna ‘Gurgs’ Gurganous (Lacretta) and clerk Wyatt Shaw (Nyambi Nyambi).
“It’s these day dates! The only men free in the middle of the day are midlife crisis, divorcees, single dads and late-in-life college students,” she says while holding a turkey leg in hand, as she’s just returned from a dud of a lunch date at Medieval Times.
“You gotta hang in there, Judge,” Gurgs reassures her. “Dating in the real world is tough. It’s certainly not a fairy tale.”
Abby acknowledges, “I know dating now is just apps and DMs, but sometimes I wish there was a little more magic to the process.”
Then, rather serendipitously, her wish comes true when a handsome stranger comes knocking at their window. He turns out to be an A-list fashion designer on the run from the paparazzi and played by none other than Nayyar.
“With that hat, I thought you were about to dance,” Abby jokes while noticing his chic look.
“My name is Martini, like the drink,” he says. She quips back, “My name’s Abby, like where nuns live.”
Before Martini has to make a break for it again, Abby says winkingly: “You know, there’s something about you that weirdly feels like … have we met before?”
Rauch, 43, and Nayyar, 42, play The Big Bang Theory’s Bernadette and Raj for nine years after she joined the show in season 3. Their reunion will air on this week’s episode titled “A Crime of Fashion.”
Raunch recently told PEOPLE how excited the ‘90s kid version” of herself would be that she’s headline the Night Court reboot.
“So every time I sit on them or walk into the courtroom — which was an exact recreation from the plans of the original — I get a little nostalgic heart zing,” she says of filming surrounded by many of the original series’ set pieces.
