Young Sheldon season 7 is missing a fan-favorite character, and their absence is made worse by Meemaw’s predicament. While not a member of the core Cooper family, Connie Tucker is as important to the prequel as they are. Meemaw has been a part of Young Sheldon‘s storytelling from the get-go. However, aside from just being another parental figure for Georgie, Missy, and Sheldon, the prequel has also developed her personal arc in the series. Her dating life was the focal point of her stories in earlier seasons, but that changed when she opened her business in Young Sheldon season 5.
Meemaw has always had a penchant for gambling. So when the opportunity came up to open an illegal room at the back of a laundromat, she took the opportunity. With the help of the new dropout Georgie, the pair are able to grow their business. However, in Young Sheldon season 7, episode 7, “A Proper Wedding and Skeletons in the Closet,” it is raided by the police, and with Georgie out of town for his honeymoon, Meemaw is left to spend a couple of days behind bars. Her situation is made worse by the lack of help from Dale.
Dr. Sturgis Would Have Been More Helpful To Meemaw In Young Sheldon Season 7

Coming from the destruction of her house in the Young Sheldon season 6 finale, Meemaw losing her business will further complicate her situation. Living with Dale hasn’t been easy, especially since he isn’t exactly thoughtful or considerate. Those traits are on full display when Connie is arrested, and he can’t be bothered to put extra effort into helping her. This highlights just how great Dr. John Sturgis is and how much he is missed in Young Sheldon season 7. Aside from being Sheldon’s first mentor, John was also once in a relationship with Meemaw.
Granted that Dr. Sturgis has his flaws, it’s difficult to imagine him not doing everything to help Connie in his crisis. Being thoughtful and kind were the characteristics that drew Connie to him in the first place, and right now, those are what she desperately needs as she navigates losing both her home and business. After their break-up, it seemed like there was still a chance for them to rekindle their romance, but the plot fell through the cracks, as the show permanently partnered Meemaw with Dale. Now, Dr. Sturgis has yet to appear in Young Sheldon season 7.
Will Dr. Sturgis Return Before Young Sheldon Ends?

There are only seven episodes left in Young Sheldon, which gives the show plenty of time to feature Dr. Sturgis. The character neither appeared nor was mentioned in The Big Bang Theory, so the prequel is likely the last time he would appear. Luckily, there is no shortage of opportunities to bring him in, considering that he supposedly still teaches at East Texas Tech. He can team up with Sheldon for the final time, or more likely attend his graduation. In any case, Young Sheldon season 7 set images confirm Dr. Sturgis’ return, although it may be for George’s funeral.
