Martin Henderson Teases Virgin River Season 7: Secrets, Surprises, and the Storylines Fans Can’t Stop Talking About

Virgin River is back in business, and fans couldn’t be happier. Since its debut in 2019, Netflix’s small-town romantic drama has captured hearts around the world with its mix of love, loss, and community spirit. The show’s sixth season dropped in December 2024, leaving viewers with plenty of questions—but also the reassurance that Season 7 had already been greenlit well before the finale. Now, the wait feels more real than ever as Martin Henderson, who plays fan favorite Jack Sheridan, has officially confirmed that production is underway.

A Special Day on Set

In a heartfelt Instagram video posted on March 12, Henderson greeted fans with the kind of warmth that has made him such a beloved fixture on the show.

“Hi guys, it’s a very auspicious moment. It is day one of Season 7 of Virgin River,” he shared, speaking from his trailer. He then showed off a thoughtful welcome gift from Netflix—a black gift box filled with filming essentials, including rechargeable hand warmers, lip balm, face moisturizer, and a carry-on pouch for keeping it all together.

The actor grinned as he unwrapped the items, clearly touched by the gesture, before shifting gears to talk about what really mattered: the fans.

“I’m really excited. I want to make this the best season yet for you guys, because none of us would be here if it wasn’t for you people who love and support the show. I am so grateful, so from the bottom of my heart, thank you. I hope we’re going to make a ripper of a show for you this season. Stay tuned!” Henderson said, signing off with his usual charm.

In his caption, Henderson doubled down on his excitement, writing that he was “stoked to be back.” With filming scheduled to continue through June 2025, fans can reasonably expect Virgin River Season 7 to hit Netflix by late 2025 or, at the latest, early 2026.

Picking Up Right Where We Left Off

Unlike some previous seasons, which have played with time jumps, Season 7 will reportedly begin immediately after the events of the Season 6 finale. That means answers are coming quickly for some of the biggest cliffhangers.

Most pressing is the mystery surrounding Charmaine (Lauren Hammersley). After her conspicuous absence from Mel and Jack’s wedding, Jack went to check on her—only to be left stunned by what he discovered in her twins’ nursery. Fans suspect that her ongoing troubles may finally be tied back to her gangster ex, Calvin (Josh Blacker), who has been looming over her storyline for years.

Mel & Jack’s Next Chapter

Of course, the heart of the series remains Mel (Alexandra Breckenridge) and Jack, and Season 7 will explore their first steps into married life. Now living together on the farm, the couple faces new challenges—chief among them deciding whether to adopt Marley’s (Rachel Drance) baby. It’s a decision that could alter the course of their relationship forever, testing their strength in unexpected ways.

For Henderson, this next chapter is especially meaningful. Jack’s character arc has taken him from a battle-hardened Marine to a small-town bar owner, partner, and soon-to-be father figure. Fans are eager to see him balance his protective instincts with the vulnerabilities of married life.

Love Triangles & Heartbreak Ahead

But it wouldn’t be Virgin River without its share of tangled romances. Season 7 will also keep the spotlight on Brie (Zibby Allen), Brady (Benjamin Hollingsworth), and Mike (Marco Grazzini). The finale shook things up when Mike proposed to Brie at the wedding, leaving Brady reeling and fans split on who Brie truly belongs with.

This love triangle has become one of the show’s most addictive subplots, and Season 7 promises to push all three characters into new emotional territory.

Why Fans Are More Excited Than Ever

With production in full swing and the cast dropping little behind-the-scenes teases, anticipation for Season 7 is higher than ever. The cliffhangers, the family drama, the complicated romances—it’s the perfect recipe for another emotional ride through the idyllic but drama-filled town of Virgin River.

And with Martin Henderson himself promising that this could be the “best season yet,” fans have every reason to mark their calendars.

The Bottom Line

Virgin River has always thrived on the strength of its characters, the beauty of its setting, and the way it makes audiences feel like they belong in the town too. Season 7 is shaping up to deliver all of that and more—while resolving the questions that Season 6 so tantalizingly left unanswered.

As Henderson put it: “None of us would be here if it wasn’t for you people who love and support the show.” With gratitude like that, it’s clear the cast is just as invested in Virgin River as the fans are—and the best may still be yet to come.
