Lucifer star Aimee Garcia recently opened up about the possibility of reuniting with the show’s lead, Tom Ellis, on the upcoming FBI spin-off series CIA. Garcia is currently starring in a recurring role on Criminal Minds: Evolution.
Speaking with ScreenRant, Garcia talked about whether she’s spoken with Tom Ellis about potentially appearing in his new series. “I have not yet. I’ve more hit him up to golf because he’s the best golfer I know,” she shared. “And I’m like, ‘Hey, I’m going to a charity golf tournament in Chicago. Can we practice?’ And he’s like, ‘Oh, I’m out of town.’ So I do check in with him every three months to see how the family’s doing and whatnot. But you know what? You’ve given me a good idea. Sometimes great ideas start on Zooms.”
Garcia and Ellis previously starred in Lucifer together when she joined the main cast for the second season, playing LAPD forensic scientist Ella Lopez. She continued starring in the series for the rest of its six-season run. Ellis starred as the titular Lucifer Morningstar, the Lord of Hell who is bored by his life as the devil and proceeds to work as a civilian consultant for the Los Angeles police department.
Ellis’ CIA is set to be the third spin-off of the FBI franchise, which showcases different aspects of the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s activities. Created by Dick Wolf, the franchise is connected to other series like the Chicago franchise and the Law & Order franchise, with crossover events occurring in the past. The previous two FBI spin-offs, FBI: International and FBI: Most Wanted, were both canceled earlier this year.
Details about the upcoming CIA series remain slim at this time, but it focuses on a partnership between an FBI agent and a CIA agent as they work together on a secret task force, working to prevent domestic terrorism in New York. A release date has not been announced at this time by CBS, but it will air during the 2025-2026 season.
