Bridgerton” season 4 is on the way, and according to Netflix, the new installment will highlight six major romantic couples. While the streaming giant has yet to announce a release date, production has wrapped—and fans are already speculating about the steamy twists ahead.
A Record-Breaking Six Love Stories in the New Season of ‘Bridgerton’
Season 4 will adapt “An Offer from a Gentleman,” Julia Quinn’s third “Bridgerton” novel, and will shine the spotlight on Benedict Bridgerton and newcomer Sophie Baek, portrayed by Yerin Ha. In the source material, Sophie is a maid who sneaks into a masquerade ball and instantly captures Benedict’s heart. Their story echoes “Cinderella,” complete with class tension, a lost love, and a fairy tale ending.
Other couples returning for major screen time include Penelope Featherington and Colin Bridgerton fresh off their long-awaited marriage in season 3. Nicola Coughlan, who plays Penelope, has already confirmed that her character will undergo a significant transformation in season 4.
Francesca Bridgerton and John Stirling will also return. Though the couple married at the end of season 3, their arc may take a turn. In Julia Quinn’s books, John dies, and Francesca eventually falls in love with his cousin. But in Netflix’s “Bridgerton,” that cousin is Michaela Stirlingnot Michael.
Season 3 teased clear sparks between Francesca and Michaela, and many fans believe season 4 will lean into their growing bond. Whether or not John dies, Francesca and Michaela’s connection will likely deepen.
Returning Favorites & New Regulars for Season 4
Anthony and Kate Bridgerton, the central couple from season 2, will also appear—though likely in a reduced capacity. The couple was mostly absent from season 3, as they were on an extended honeymoon, but producers confirmed they’ll be seen again in season 4, continuing their journey as a married couple navigating society.
Also receiving a bigger spotlight are Will and Alice Mondrich. Though not part of the original book series, the duo has steadily gained prominence on the show. Now upgraded to series regulars, Will and Alice are poised for their own compelling storyline as they adjust to life among the upper crust of Regency society.
As for a premiere date, showrunner Jess Brownell told The Hollywood Reporter that fans should expect the new season in 2026. “We’re kind of on a two-year pace,” she explained. “We’re trying to speed up, but somewhere in that range.”
