Speaking of Johnny Galecki’s one inconvenient habit on set, Kunal Nayyar revealed where his costar’s deed can be found.
The main cast of The Big Bang Theory was no stranger to keeping secrets from each other in the show, especially Johnny Galecki’s Leonard. From hiding his separate bank account to harboring secret guilt about kissing another woman during his time partying with other scientists, Leonard had his fair share of undisclosed stuff.
Interestingly, things weren’t much different off-set, as his TBBT costar, Kunal Nayyar, who played Raj, came clean about one gross act that Galecki kept on committing throughout the show’s tenure.
Kunal Nayyar Disclosed the Untidy Fact About Johnny Galecki on Set
While in the show, the character did disclose his secrets to Penny, especially about the party incident, in real life, it was Kunal Nayyar, who lifted the lid on Johnny Galecki‘s off-screen habit. After revealing that the iconic staircase in Sheldon, Leonard, and Penny’s apartment was actually an illusion, stating “Down there is nothing. There’s a wall”, he opened up about the untidy secret that the wall holds.
Considering Galecki had a habit of chewing gum onset, Nayyar shared the actor kept sticking his gum on that wall throughout the sitcom’s run, joking that fans could find it “for sale somewhere on the internet”.
Down there is nothing. There’s a wall there where Johnny Galecki, for 12 years, would stick his chewing gum on. I’m not joking. So if any of you are Johnny Galecki fans and you want his dried chewing gum, I am sure it’s for sale somewhere on the internet. Welcome to Hollywood.
Unfortunately, the gum-ridden wall has long been demolished after the iconic staircase set was brought down at Warner Bros. following the show’s end, which was emotional for its showrunners.
Kunal Nayyar Once Borrowed Money From Johnny Galecki
Similar to Leonard, Raj too held his secrets in the show, as he kept his family’s enormous wealth under the curtain for years. However, in real life, the actor might have had some financial issues at the time, as Galecki opened up about borrowing him money after their first table read, humorously revealing that Nayyar was yet to pay him back.
I remember Kunal doing something I hadn’t predicted at the table read. It changed just by a minute degree. But it just worked better. That seemed to be the case with everybody around the table. Then Kunal asked to borrow money. I thought that was odd. I only remember that because he hasn’t paid me back.
While the speculations surrounding his financial struggles at the time might be true, the exact reason can’t be said for certain. But as of now, Nayyar’s net worth currently stands at a whopping $45M, thanks to his 12-year-long stint in The Big Bang Theory.
