Prime Video’s exciting upcoming slate just got even tastier. From the return of Fallout for a hotly anticipated second season or the Phoebe Waller-Bridge-helmed live-action Tomb Raider series, Prime Video already had plenty for subscribers to look forward to, and that excitement just got even greater. As confirmed in a recent report, the streamer has acquired the rights to the Civil War series The Gray House, produced by Yellowstone‘s Kevin Costner and Morgan Freeman, which is set to launch on the platform early in 2026.
Starring The West Wing‘s Mary-Louise Parker, Daisy Head (Guilt), Amethyst Davis (Kindred), and Ben Vereen (Roots), The Gray House was first shown at the 2024 Monte-Carlo Television Festival, and already boasts an impressive 8.7/10 on IMDb. Directed by Roland Joffe, the eight-part series is based on a true story and is distributed by Paramount Pictures. Also included in the ensemble are the likes of Paul Anderson, Ian Duff, Hannah James, Robert Knepper, Christopher McDonald, Colin Morgan, and more. A synopsis for the series reads:
“[The Gray House] focuses on the true story of a group of unsung women, a Virginia socialite, her mother, a formerly enslaved sister-in-arms, and the city’s most notorious courtesan. They operate deep inside the corridors of Confederate power and transform an underground railroad into an effective underground spy network, risking life and liberty.”
What is Popular on Prime Video Right Now?
Currently, in the US, one show remains dominant on the streaming charts, having consistently placed either at or near the top for most of the summer. The Summer I Turned Pretty‘s final — or not-so-final — season has taken the world by storm, even leading to the confirmation that a film version of the series will now be developed to close this twisting romance for good. Elsewhere in the current Prime Video charts, The Terminal List: Dark Wolf is second in the top 10 overall, with Butterfly, the espionage thriller show starring Daniel Dae Kim, in third place. Jason Statham‘s A Working Man, directed by David Ayer, is holding onto the top spot in the movies section, outperforming an eye-catching list of titles that includes the box office flop Love Hurts, the hugely popular Wicked, and much more.
The Gray House, a civil war epic produced by Morgan Freeman and Kevin Costner, is scheduled to debut on Prime Video in early 2026. Make sure to stay tuned to Collider for more updates on the latest news. Catch Costner in Yellowstone now.
