Kevin Costner Hints His Return To The Yellowstone Saga

A Yet-to-be-titled Yellowstone Spin-off Show Potentially Eyes Michelle Pfeiffer

A number of major media franchises suffered immensely in their filming and production schedules due to the SAG-AFTRA strikes that took place last year. Yellowstone features Kevin Costner as the leader of the Dutton family, as the final season of the show is delayed as well. However, the strikes were not the only reason that caused the delay to the Western drama series, as Matthew McConaughey is stalling the deal for the lead role in a spin-off series.

The actor delaying the deal has put the show’s schedule behind, causing trouble for both the cast and crew of the drama series. However, this delay would cost him immensely as Michelle Pfeiffer is all set to take over the lead role in a new not-yet-titled spin-off show based on the original show.

Matthew McConaughey’s future in the Yellowstone spin-off show remains in the dark, as Taylor Sheridan’s Yellowstone has decided to go on a different route following their untitled spin-off show. A source came forward and spilled the beans to the National Enquirer via The News, where Michelle Pfeiffer “is primed for big, big things” because the franchise will take a different approach in this spin-off show.

The source said,

“Michelle is primed for big, big things and the mood is the franchise will go a different route and embrace girl power and move with the times.”

The source added that this different approach is not because they want to show something new but “Matthew McConaughey’s stalling could really cost him and he’s still hasn’t inked a deal.” They added that Paramount is hesitant to meet his “$2.5 million per episode fee demand.”

Moreover, Kevin Costner clashed with Sheridan over the scheduling of the show, but Costner is now willing to let bygone be bygones as he wants to “appear in some capacity in the second half of Yellowstone’s fifth and final season for proper closure of his character.”

“Kevin’s return isn’t set in Yellowstone either — and he’s only going to get a cameo at best, thanks to his hard-line tactics, so the cost is clear for Michelle to take over!”

However, a mole from the show has also come forward stating that “Michelle is really excited and ready to go,” as she is potentially going to play the lead role in the spin-off series. They added, “Word is, she’s very close to a deal and she really wants to do this, unlike her indecisive male counterparts.”

The casting would be a “refreshing welcome” as the actress would be playing a major role in the series. More importantly, it will be “Kevin and Matthew’s loss” as this role has been eluding the actress for several years and she is immensely close to taking it.

Kevin Costner Hints His Return To The Yellowstone Saga

With Kevin Costner making an exit from the franchise, he has continued to stay in the spotlight for the drama series, as he continues to share statements related to the saga. However, these statements are not only related to the show as he hints at his possible return to the show.

His statements occurred after leaving the show on bad terms with showrunner, Taylor Sheridan. During an exclusive interview with Entertainment Tonight, the actor hinted,

“I’d like to be able to do it but we haven’t been able to…I thought I was going to make seven [seasons] but right now we’re at five. So how it works out — I hope it does — but they’ve got a lot of different shows going on. Maybe it will. Maybe this will circle back to me. If it does and I feel really comfortable with [it], I’d love to do it.”

Nevertheless, the drama never ceases to stop, as only time will tell if Costner will return to the saga in the near future.
