Kara Killmer Steps Back Into the Spotlight With First Role Since Leaving Chicago Fire md14

Fans who have missed Kara Killmer since her exit from Chicago Fire finally have reason to celebrate. The actress is returning to acting in the 2026 biopic Jimmy, which chronicles the life of legendary actor and decorated World War II pilot James Stewart.

Killmer stars alongside KJ Apa, portraying Lady Julia, a performer whose path crosses with Stewart during his military service. In the film’s early footage, she is seen singing to servicemen—giving Killmer a chance to showcase her musical abilities—while later scenes suggest a deeper emotional connection between the two characters.

The role marks Killmer’s first project since departing Chicago Fire early in Season 12, where she played paramedic Sylvie Brett for nearly a decade. Her exit was carefully crafted by the show’s writers, culminating in Brett’s marriage to Matt Casey and her move to Portland to begin a new life.

While Killmer has yet to return to Firehouse 51, Jimmy represents a fresh chapter—one that brings her back into the spotlight in a very different setting.
