Kaley Cuoco is no stranger to going the extra mile for her passions—especially when it comes to her dog business, “Oh Norman!” Named after one of her beloved dogs, the brand offers a range of products from supplements to treats, all aimed at enhancing the well-being of furry friends. But recently, Cuoco went above and beyond to ensure her products were safe and effective—by testing them on herself.
The actress, best known for her role as Penny on The Big Bang Theory, appeared on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, where she shared her experience testing a supplement called “Calm the Eff Down.” This liquid formula is designed to help stressed dogs, especially in situations like trips to the vet or during loud events like fireworks.
Cuoco admitted that she felt it was important to try the product personally before promoting it. “Just FYI, I did try it when we started this,” she told Fallon. “I wanted to make sure I could say that… I didn’t want humans to, like, die.”
After taking the supplement, Cuoco was quick to report the effects. “It’s all-natural,” she explained. “I did take it, I tested it on myself, and I really did calm the eff down. It was great. I was out for three hours.” The actress joked about how effective the product was on her, making sure to assure viewers that while it worked on her, it wasn’t necessarily for human consumption. Fallon quickly interjected to remind the audience, “We’re not recommending humans take the product.”
Cuoco’s willingness to test the product herself is just one example of her deep dedication to animals. She’s passionate about rescuing dogs and even farm animals, having expanded her love for animals into a ranch in Thousand Oaks, California. The ranch is home to a variety of creatures including horses, donkeys, goats, and even pigs. “Really anything with four legs is welcome here,” Cuoco shared. “We don’t turn anyone away. It’s become this magical place.”
However, not all of Cuoco’s experiences with pets have been easy. She recently shared a heartfelt story about her late dog, Shirley, whom she had to rehome due to violent behavior toward other animals. “Shirley would get into fights with every dog that wasn’t Norman,” Cuoco explained, referring to her other dog who inspired the brand. “When the love of my life, Tom, moved across the country with his German Shepherd, Blue, things got worse. Unfortunately, Blue and Shirley started getting into some mega fights.”
Cuoco confessed that she was scared for both Shirley’s safety and that of others. “I loved her so much, but I was really scared. I didn’t want something really bad to happen or possibly a person accidentally be there and get hurt.” She took the time to find Shirley a new, loving home with her pet handler, Tony, and his wife, where the dog spent her final days after being diagnosed with aggressive bone cancer.
Through it all, Cuoco has remained deeply committed to her animals, showing that her love for them is much more than just a business—it’s a way of life.
