Kaley Cuoco Shares Hilarious Parenting Analogy and Why Everyone Should Try Couples Therapy

Kaley Cuoco has revealed that she and her fiancé, actor Tom Pelphrey, are attending couples therapy. The Big Bang Theory star believes that relationship counseling is beneficial for everyone, and in a recent appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, she shared that it’s a practice everyone should engage in.

Cuoco, 38, was chatting with Fallon about life with their 19-month-old daughter, Matilda, when she took a moment to discuss her relationship with Pelphrey. “It’s a wild ride, Jimmy,” Cuoco laughed, referring to the challenges of parenting a toddler. “I mean, it’s an adventure. 19 months old. It’s a lot! It’s a wild thing, I was trying to explain to our couple’s therapist the other day why I’m so tired.”

She then shifted to offer a bit of advice for the audience, telling them, “You should all be in couples therapy, just FYI,” before quickly returning to her story.

Cuoco elaborated on her recent therapy session, humorously describing the experience of raising a toddler by comparing it to taking care of a drunk friend. “Taking care of a 19-month-old is like taking care of your drunk best friend every day,” she joked. “They’re crying when they don’t get what they want. You’re making sure they make it to the bathroom, or you’re cleaning up their throw-up from whatever. And they’re out of their minds, and you’re making sure they don’t die all day long.”

She continued, laughing, “And then they black out, and you’re ready to die, and they wake up and say, ‘What’s for breakfast?’”

The playful analogy drew laughter from the audience, as Kaley further joked about how her daughter seems to forget the chaos of the day, asking, “Do you even know what happened last night?”

Cuoco and Pelphrey, 42, have been engaged since August. The couple’s lighthearted yet candid approach to therapy highlights how they navigate the challenges of parenthood and their relationship, with a dose of humor and mutual support.
