Justin Hartley’s CBS Show ‘Tracker’ Loses a Main Cast Member Before Season 3

Tracker fans will see a cast shakeup when the show returns for season 3. Robin Weigert, who played Teddi Bruin in the first season, will not be returning as a main cast member of the series, according to TVLine. The network did not provide details on how Weigert’s departure was explained.

Prior to her departure, Weigert, 55, shared the screen with Abby McEnany, who played Ted’s wife Velma. The pair are among the skilled individuals from across the country who help Justin Hartley’s character Colter Shaw solve missing persons cases.

Based on the novel The Never Game by Jeffery Deaver, Tracker follows Colter week by week as he solves various missing persons cases. In addition to Teddi and Velma, Colter also gets help from tech genius Bobby (Eric Graise) and his personal lawyer Reenie (Fiona Rene).

All the Casting Changes That Are Shaking Up the Fall 2024  TV Schedule: From ‘Found’ to One Chicago Showrunner Elwood Reid told TVLine in July that season 3 sees Velma “taking on a very interesting role that’s been hinted at through Reenie in the last few episodes” of the first season. It’s also been confirmed that other guest stars including Hartley’s real-life wife Sofia Pernas, Melissa Roxburgh, Jennifer Morrison and Jensen Ackles will return in various roles throughout season 3. “In a perfect world, we’d see as much of [Jensen] as possible. But he’s a busy guy. So we’ll see what we can do, and the same thing with Melissa. We don’t need eight or nine times, but it would be nice to have a couple times with him and a couple times with Sofia,” Hartley, 47, told The Wrap in May 2024. “I think we might sprinkle Sofia in a little bit more, just because there’s backstory with Billie and Colter and trying to figure out what the hell happened to Jennifer Morrison’s character.” That same month, Hartley teased some of the storylines that will be expanding for the next season after Colter discovers some surprising details about his family.

“We have another season to shoot and we have to do better than season 1. So while we wanted all of those storylines to be wrapped up, we also wanted those endings to lead to other questions — bigger, deeper questions — about his past,” he shared with Deadline. “So I think we did that in answering some of the questions that we’ve been building up over the course of the year. I think we did a good job of making sure that the answers to those questions lead to a bigger mystery that we can address in season 3.”

What to Know About Season 3 of Justin Hartley’s Hit Show ‘Tracker’: Sofia Pernas Returns and More According to Hartley, viewers can expect Colter to have more run-ins with the law as he continues to work as a bounty hunter.

“We do have a running joke, though, about how many times Colter has broken the law. Our video department made a list and it was ridiculous. My idea is, maybe at the end of season 3, my end-of-season gift to everyone will be a hoodie that lists all the things he’s done,” Hartley joked to The Wrap. “Like assault, burglary, kidnapping, all that stuff. But that’s a long list. Every episode, he does something illegal, right?”
