Justin Hartley Reveals Colter’s ‘Trauma Bond’ Relationship With Floriana Lima’s Camille After ‘Tracker’ Couple Justin Hartley revealed how Colter’s relationship with new love interest Camille played out throughout Tracker season 2 after they met on-screen.
In the season 2 premiere, which aired Sunday, Oct. 13, Colter reconnected with Camille (Floriana Lima), who was involved in a cold case he couldn’t solve. Colter continued to search for Camille’s missing sister, but their on-again, off-again relationship wasn’t the best.
“I think the relationship changed based on the trauma relationship. That’s exactly what it was — a trauma relationship,” Hartley, 47, told TVLine on Sunday. “It’s very, very sad, but it’s like couples who lose a child and they can’t be together anymore because they see their child in the other person.”
Colter and Camille are in a “difficult” situation as Tracker season 2 introduces their relationship to Us.
The Most Iconic Guest Stars From Justin Hartley’s ‘Tracker’ Series: Sofia Pernas, Jensen Ackles, and More “When [her sister, Gina, disappeared], he made a promise — and I don’t know if you noticed, but he never made a promise [to his clients] again. He said, ‘I’m going to bring her home… I’m going to bring him home,’” Hartley noted. “He said, ‘I’m going to do my best… to try.’ That’s why.” Digging into Colter’s past with Camille will reveal more details about him. “[This storyline] was constructed in a way that when you look at it, you’re like, ‘Oh my gosh, that was a pivotal moment in Colter’s life that changed the way he approached his work and his relationships with other people,'” the actor added. Based on the novel The Never Game by Jeffery Deaver, Tracker centers on a survivalist named Colter who travels across the country helping people and law enforcement solve various mysteries. The TV version features Hartley as the show’s star — and an executive producer on the project. “Obviously when we started this show, we took the characters from the book. And it was important to [fellow executive producer] Ken [Olin] and I to make sure that people had a reason to watch. We needed to give people a reason — show them a reason — why they would watch this guy,” Hartley told TVLine about how the reveal of Camille fits into the show’s overall message. “He’s special, he’s really great at what he does… and it just becomes one of those things where, by the end of season 1, you think to yourself, what we haven’t shown is that he’s not perfect.” Justin Hartley’s Profound Quotes About ‘Tracker’: From Stunts to Potential Love Interests He continued: “There’s something that happened that he can’t get to the bottom of, and it’s really bothering him… he can’t let go of things. And I just think that’s a great thing to introduce to the character – the idea that this guy is suffering. For better or worse, he’s not going to let go of it, and I think that adds to the complexity of the character. That adds to the intrigue.” Viewers see Colter hooking up with Camille at the end of the episode, hinting at a romance off-the-case. Hartley couldn’t reveal much about their backstory, only teasing, “I assume it was before [Gina went missing]. I think it’s stronger… I think it’s deeper.” Hartley also confirmed that Lima will appear in more episodes. “A couple of times. We have to tell the story behind it, so we’ll tell that story in episodes 8 and 9,” he noted. “I can lie to you, in episodes 8 and 9 or episodes 8 and 10. Then we’ll see how it goes.” What to Know About Season 2 of Justin Hartley’s Hit TV Show ‘Tracker’: Sofia Pernas Returns and More This isn’t Colter’s only love interest this season. Hartley’s real-life wife Sofia Pernas will also reprise her role as Billie. “She’s amazing. I mean, if I had the choice, I would spend every minute with her,” Hartley shared with Us Weekly in July about working with Pernas on Tracker. “What’s really great is when you meet someone who means so much to you, who you’re so proud to be around and proud of, and a fan of, and to see her work, because she’s such a talented actress. She elevates the scenes, and really makes my job easier. But yeah, it’s been amazing working with her.”
