Jonathan Jackson Breaks Silence on General Hospital Exit — Here’s Why He Left

General Hospital‘s Lucky (Jonathan Jackson) will soon be bidding adieu to Port Charles, after it was announced last week Jackson will depart the role nine months after reprising it. But what made him decide now was the time to step away again from the part?

Jackson told TV Insider that he’d hoped to be able to stick around longer, but it was becoming increasingly difficult to balance work in California and family commitments in Tennessee, where he is based. He explained:

There was always that possibility because it was a bit of an experiment on my part to see if I could make it work with the family dynamic. There were moments where I thought, ‘I think I can find this balance with the family and time back and forth,’ and then you just have to pray about it and try to do what you feel is right. We gave it our best shot, but we weren’t able to keep it going.
