“The Golden Bachelorette” star Joan Vassos spent her New Year’s Eve in Wichita, Kansas with her fiance Chock Chapple. Fans were surprised to learn that there was something unique about this trip.
Vassos explained via her Instagram Stories that she and Chapple were headed to Wichita, Kansas, ahead of New Year’s Eve. That’s where Chapple lives and where her hometown date with him for “The Golden Bachelorette” was filmed.
However, Vassos had not been back to Kansas since then. Despite being engaged to Chapple, and the two maintaining a long-distance relationship, they had not spent time together in Wichita again until now.

In her Instagram Story, Vassos was with Chapple at the airport set to fly from her home in Maryland to his in Kansas. She joked that the trip to Kansas for her “The Golden Bachelorette” hometown date “didn’t count” since they weren’t at Chapple’s home. Instead, they filmed the hometown date at the ranch of a friend of his.
For this trip, Chapple and Vassos were hanging out at his home and with his friends. She noted this would be the first time she was meeting quite a few of the ladies in Chapple’s group of friends.
On January 1, Chapple posted several photos on his Instagram page providing highlights from Vassos’ trip to Wichita. In addition to spending time at his home with his friends, Chapple took Vassos to a couple of his favorite places in town.
The pair’s fans gushed over the highlights they shared from Wichita.
“Your love is real and adorable,” one wrote.
Another commented, “Happy New Year! I’m so happy for you both! Love those smiles!”
“Love looks so beautiful on both of you. You look so happy together,” shared someone else.
In November, Chapple talked with KCUR about the couple’s plans for managing their living situation. As KCUR noted, Chapple is the president and owner of Insurance Services Group in Wichita.
Chapple explained that a very positive thing came out of his experience filming “The Golden Bachelorette,” in addition to his engagement to Vassos.
He shared, “I’m a worker. I’m a grinder. Being gone filming for seven weeks, I came back, had a meeting, and they’re kind of like, ‘Can you go away again? We were doing great without you.’”
“My kids have moved away. I’ve got great friends. But the business, it’s just something that I do. And so being able to relax on this a bit was just very good for me to have that happen,” Chapple noted.
The couple is working on getting an apartment in New York City together, and he’s spending a lot of time at her place in Maryland. The couple spent Christmas and Thanksgiving with her family in Maryland, and it seems that’s all gone quite smoothly.
