Sending love.
Bachelor Nation fans saw Joan Vassos and Gerry Turner look for love on the first seasons of “The Golden Bachelorette” and “The Golden Bachelor,” respectively.
Joan was also a cast member on Gerry’s season and he made a surprise visit on her season.
Since their time on the shows, the two have remained close friends and Joan is now engaged to her season winner, Chock Chapple.
Gerry recently revealed that he has been diagnosed with bone marrow cancer and has been battling it for about a year now.
This week in an interview with US Weekly, Joan opened up and shared that she has spoken to Gerry about his diagnosis and has actually known about it for some time now.
“I knew about that already. I knew about that last year actually and I have spoken to him,” she said, “He and I are friends. We text every once in a while. He’s all good.”
Joan also shared that the news came as quite a shock to her and stated, “No one wants to hear the C word ever.”
The former Golden Bachelorette also reassured that while Gerry’s cancer currently has no cure, it is very slow moving.
“Sometimes they never even treat them for it,” she said. “Like, it never becomes an issue. So he’s at the stage of this cancer that he’s not even being treated for it.”
We are so glad to hear that Joan and Gerry stay in touch and remain such supportive friends of one another.
We are continuing to send our love to Gerry and his family during this time.
