Jim Parsons & Mayim Bialik to Reprise Big Bang Theory Roles in Young Sheldon Finale

The Big Bang Theory stars Jim Parsons and Mayim Bialik will return as Sheldon and Amy in the series finale of Young Sheldon.

Two stars of The Big Bang Theory are reuniting in the series finale of the prequel series Young Sheldon.

Now in its seventh season, Young Sheldon is set to conclude with a series finale on May 16. Per Deadline, it’s been revealed that the show’s final episode will include appearances from The Big Bang Theory stars Jim Parsons and Mayim Bialik. As fans will know, Parsons played the older version of Sheldon Cooper, who inspired the new prequel series. Bialik played Amy Farrah Fowler, Sheldon’s wife. As of now, it’s not clear how the two will be featured in the episode.

Young Sheldon is building to George’s affair, but he and Mary will never divorce. While that seems odd, they had a good reason for staying together.

This news follows the recent revelation that another minor character from The Big Bang Theory would return in Season 7. Ryan Phuong, who plays Sheldon’s childhood pal, Tam, is set to return as well. The final season of The Big Bang Theory had revealed Tam to be a childhood friend of Sheldon before the two had a falling out when Tam chose to stay with his girlfriend in Texas rather than moving with Sheldon to California. Robert Wu played an older version of Tam in The Big Bang Theory.

Young Sheldon’s Story Will Continue With Another Spinoff Series

Meanwhile, it was also recently confirmed that Young Sheldon is getting a spinoff of its own. CBS has ordered to series a new untitled show that will focus on Sheldon’s brother, Georgie, and his fiancée, Mandy, with Montana Jordan and Emily Osment reprising their roles. The new series is in the works for a release in the Fall 2024-25 season. As of now, it’s not yet clear which other stars will return, but the show is executive produced by Chuck Lorre, Steven Molaro, and Steve Holland.

CBS’s Young Sheldon Season 7 premiere hits new highs with unexpected character developments and emphasis on the women in the Cooper family.

“It has been a privilege to spend the last seven years with Sheldon and the Cooper family, and now this wonderful journey will continue with Georgie and Mandy,” a statement touting the new show written byCBS Entertainment President Amy Reisenbach stated at the time the news was broken. “Chuck and both Steves have done a masterful job developing these characters and entertaining generations of fans with relatable, heartwarming stories brought to life by Montana and Emily. We eagerly look forward to the next chapter in this beloved universe.”

The series finale of Young Sheldon will air on CBS on Thursday, May 16. Its spinoff series will debut on CBS during the Fall 2024-25 season.
