Chicago Fire fans were thrilled when Jesse Spencer briefly returned as Matthew Casey — and now the actor is finally addressing whether more appearances could be on the horizon.
Spencer, who exited the series in 2021, told NBC Insider that he’s open to returning again if the timing and storyline feel right. His comeback episode hinted at major possibilities, including the idea that Casey might consider moving back to Firehouse 51 — and even rekindling his relationship with Sylvie Brett.
“The idea when I left was always that, if it made sense, I’d be open to coming back,” Spencer explained. “Episode 18 definitely hints that Casey is thinking about whether he could return to 51. Can he rekindle things with Brett? We’ll have to wait and see.”
As for stepping back onto the set, Spencer said the experience felt surprisingly natural.
“It was really smooth — like riding a bike,” he shared. “I know the cast, I know the crew. I had a ball.”
While Spencer isn’t confirming anything yet, his comments leave the door wide open. For fans hoping to see Casey back in Chicago full-time, the future still looks promising.
