Jake Lockett’s Surprise Hawaiian Vows: A Dream Elopement from Chicago Fire Star

It seems congratulations are in order for Chicago Fire star Jake Lockett!

As first confirmed via People, Lockett eloped with actress Dominique Domingo on June 18 in a beautiful and small ceremony near Kalihiwai Falls in Hawaii. The pair opted to go with a small and intimate ceremony, with the only guests in attendance being the couple’s parents. Interestingly, the wedding was actually the first time the couple’s parents met, and the couple made a point of setting aside time for the group to make a meaningful connection together.

“Our families had never met, so making sure we had time to commune together was important to us. Cooking meals together, sitting and watching our favorite funny movies together, hanging in the water and learning about each other, all those things helped to make the family aspect that much more special,” Lockett told People.

The simple ceremony was built around a theme of “letting nature take the lead,” with the couple being very intentional about the little details to make them as personalized and special as possible. In fact, a key factor in the couple’s decision to wed near Kalihiwai Falls stemmed from a touching moment in which Lockett wrote a song about his future wife while next to a waterfall during a Yellowstone trip. The unreleased song was written by Lockett three months before he met Domingo at a commercial audition.

“I hiked a mountain to the base of the waterfall and while listening to music, ended up writing a song about the woman I’d someday meet. The one I’d fall in love with. The song was asking her to stay true and be patient for me. So, being able to get married by a waterfall was full circle for me,” Lockett revealed.

The waterfall setting wasn’t the only personal touch the pair worked into their ceremony. The couple also included a moment in which they combined sand from a beach in Kauai with sand from a beach in Mexico where Lockett proposed on Jan. 30.

While the couple gave People the exclusive first look at the ceremony, Lockett has since shared a breathtaking photo from the ceremony. Domingo wore a stunning wedding dress designed by Maggie Sottero, while Lockett wore a bespoke Irish linen suit by KERCHER, which featured a Hawaiian floral lining and the date of their wedding embroidered on the underside of his collar.
