Ahead of her 55th birthday on July 24, the multi-talented beauty threw a lavish bash in the Hamptons, where she spent much of her summer.
People reports that the lavish Bridgerton-themed event was a huge affair that involved “trucks of furniture and flowers,” as well as “horse-drawn carriages, valets, security, and waiters.” Page Six reports that guests were served by horse-drawn carriage.
Many guests arrived at the venue in Regency-era finery, from floor-length gowns to dramatic high-waisted gowns—including Lopez’s mother, Guadalupe Rodríguez, who was photographed in a sky-blue gown with white lace details. However, Lopez’s husband, Ben Affleck, was notably absent from the event.
A source confirmed to People that Affleck did not attend Lopez’s birthday lantern festival in the Hamptons this year. The couple are said to have been experiencing marital strife and have spent much of the summer apart. Before heading to the Hamptons, Lopez took a solo vacation in Italy. Meanwhile, Affleck remained in Los Angeles, where he filmed The Accountant 2 earlier this year. Last week, the two celebrated their second wedding anniversary on opposite sides of the country.
Many outlets have reported on the couple’s relationship issues, with sources saying that their differing approaches to fame led to Bennifer’s downfall. However, another insider told People that things weren’t that simple. “The idea that Ben thought Jennifer was too famous and that he didn’t know what he was getting himself into with all the attention on their marriage is just not true,” the source said. “There are deeper issues.”
