‘It Was Over for Me’: SEAL Team Star Explains Why the Show Needs to End
SEAL Team is currently in the midst of airing its seventh and final season on Paramount+. While some fans would like to see the military drama continue with an eighth season, lead star David Boreanaz recently explained why now is the perfect time to end SEAL Team.

In an interview with Collider to promote the final season of SEAL Team, Boreanaz opened up about his decision to end the show after season seven, explaining that he “decided to end the show the way I wanted to end the show with this character. For me, it was over. I knew that and that’s what I expressed to them. I said, ‘I’m done, physically and emotionally.'” The actor shared that “it’s hard to show emotions like that, day in and day out, when you’re filming.”

Boreanaz went on to talk about how difficult it was to portray Lead Special Warfare Operator Jason Hayes in SEAL Team, noting that “from my perspective, as an actor portraying these emotions, I can only imagine what it’s like for people who are actually going through it. The help is there, it’s there, but it takes time. There’s a process to it. Ultimately, I don’t think it ever really goes away, but you can figure out how to manage that through consistency and discipline.”

He explained that these emotions and the grieving process are “what we wanted to show in the stories this season. I knew for sure that it was going to happen. From my character’s perspective, would he make it? I don’t know. He could fall on the battlefield. Ultimately, he could die on the battlefield.
What is SEAL Team?
Created by Benjamin Cavell, SEAL Team originally aired on CBS for its first four and a half seasons, before moving to Paramount+ in the middle of its fifth season. The series follows the professional and personal lives of Bravo Team, the Navy SEALs’ most elite unit, as they train, plan, and execute the most dangerous and high-risk missions our country could ask of them. Deployed to covert missions around the world at any time, knowing the cost to them and their families, this tight-knit SEAL team demonstrates unwavering patriotism and fearless dedication even when faced with enormous odds. In addition to Boreanaz, SEAL Team also stars Neil Brown Jr., A. J. Buckley, Toni Trucks, Beau Knapp, Jessica Paré, Judd Lormand, and Dylan Walsh.
David Boreanaz is ready for a Bones revival With SEAL Team coming to an end, Boreanaz is on the hunt for his next acting project. The actor recently expressed interest in reprising his Bones character, FBI Agent Seeley Booth, stating, “It’s something I would never say no to because it would be interesting to see where Booth is and where Temperance Brennan is, and the other characters, especially their relationship and how it evolves over the years.” He continued, “That kind of show and the way we shot that show is just so unique with the humor that you can really do anything with it.”
Nearly a month after Boreanaz made those revival comments, his Bones co-star Emily Deschanel (Dr. Temperance Brennan) revealed that she was surprised by his comments because he “always said he wasn’t open” to a Bones revival. The actress went on to say that she would be open to reprising her role with Boreanaz for a Bones sequel, noting, “I never say never.”
