Some of our favorite TV shows are back with new episodes. One Chicago is back on NBC, Sunday night programming once again belongs to Bob’s Burgers on FOX, and Grey’s Anatomy recently celebrated its 21st season premiere on ABC.
What more could you ask for? Well, for starters, how about the premiere of Will Trent?
Based on the New York Times bestselling series by Karin Slaughter, the Ramón Rodríguez-led drama has been a ratings hit for ABC, with Season 2 episodes being the highest-grossing shows on both linear and streaming. The hit show has been renewed for a third season, so when exactly will it premiere on ABC? Here’s everything you need to know.
Is Will Trent on the Tonight Show (8/10/24)?
Nope. Sorry, folks. ABC will air an all-new episode of Dancing with the Stars from 8:00-10:00 p.m. ET, followed by Kaitlin Olson’s High Potential.
When will Trent return with new episodes?
In April 2024, ABC renewed Will Trent for a third season. So why isn’t the show airing new episodes this fall? ABC is saving both Will Trent and The Rookie for midseason premieres, allowing the shows to have a near-uninterrupted run.
“Both of those shows are running at full steam, both in terms of the ratings and the performance we’re seeing on Hulu,” Disney Television Group chairman Craig Erwich told The Hollywood Reporter in May. “We’re launching them in January, when we have big advertising platforms on New Year’s Eve, as well as college football and a big Christmas slate. Keeping those shows uninterrupted is just the best way to continue to grow them, which is our goal.” Will Trent and The Rookie will return in January 2025. Both shows will likely air 18-episode seasons.
