Loving and healthy relationships are in short supply for Colter Shaw (Justin Hartley) on the hit CBS drama, Tracker. From what can only be mildly described as a troubled childhood, Colter’s family relationships have been stretched thin and this seems to have affected his personal life. Throughout the first season, romantic sparks seemed to fly when Reenie and Fiona Rene’s Colter were around each other, hinting at their past romantic relationships. Tracker Season 2 returns this Sunday, October 13, and ahead of the show’s return, Rene has addressed the possibility of a romance between Colter and Reenie Greene.
Speaking in an interview with Screen Rant, Rene was asked if she would try to fill in the gaps that existed in Colter and Reenie’s relationship. The actress responded that she doesn’t know the details of the couple’s off-screen relationship. “No. It’s interesting how actors sometimes stay in the dark, and I think they do that on purpose, really, so they have more room to grow and develop and play in the writers’ room,” Rene replied. “There will be times when they reach out to us and they’re like, ‘Hey, we’re thinking this and that,’ but I think they let us play. What I see is that the Colter character is compared to any kind of long-term relationship because Reenie thinks he feels guilty for always being busy and never being able to really be a good partner to someone, so he’s staying away from that dynamic.” For much of his adult life, Colter hasn’t been the recipient of a healthy relationship dynamic. The tension in his relationship with his brother, Russell Shaw (Jensen Ackles), is only just starting to dissipate. However, his relationship with his mother may have been rocky as well, which his sister, Dory (Melissa Roxburgh), believes is true. Rene thinks it’s best to accept people as they are: “And I think, even though Reenie and Colter have this chemistry, not just playful or sexual, but really caring friendship chemistry, Reenie thinks that just scares him. There’s no news here. And what’s the best way to do that, other than to accept someone as they are and be there for them? And I feel like that dynamic definitely made their relationship stronger.” Tracker Season 2 will be a bit different as the show returns in full swing with Robin Weigert, who played Teddi Bruin, leaving the show. With one part removed from Colter’s personal life, another quickly took its place. Floriana Lima has been cast as Camille Pickett, a potential love interest for Hartley’s Colter. With competition on the line, Rene was asked about the prospect of Reenie settling down with Colter, which they both agreed to. Her response was, “I mean, I love him, but do you expect me to live in a trailer? [Laughs] You know what I mean? I think there’s a lot of love there, but I also think she would never live on the road. You have two people who are so inherently themselves that I can’t imagine how that would work out, but who knows?”
