Is This Goodbye for Chad and Cat? Days of Our Lives Teases Major Shift in Their Romance md17

Days of our Lives’ Cat and Chad ended pretty much as quickly as they started. They are seriously the romance that no one in Salem wants except them.

Key Takeaways

  • The relationship never really made sense.
  • It’s time for both Chad and Cat to move on.
  • The beginning of the Chad switch-up.

The Final Nail In The Chad and Cat Coffin…We Hope

Once Thomas (Cary Christopher) made his feelings about Chad (Billy Flynn) dating Cat (AnnaLynne McCord) crystal clear, the writing was on the wall for them as a couple.

Chad was willing to deal with upsetting Jennifer (Melissa Reeves) and Julie (Susan Seaforth Hayes) for Cat. However, having the romance impact Chad’s relationship with his children was a deal breaker for him.

The breakup hopefully means the end of this forced relationship. We haven’t been buying the Chad and Cat romance from the jump.

Even with the extenuating circumstances surrounding why Cat pretended to be Abigail (Marci Miller), Chad’s desire to romance her was a stretch. Abigail was the love of his life. For him to date the person impersonating her was too much for us to get behind, even by soap standards.

No disrespect to Flynn or McCord; they are both talented actors, but their alter egos just didn’t scream “couple.” They gave off friendship vibes at most.

Cat seems to have more chemistry with EJ (Daniel Feuerriegel) and Rafe (Galen Gering). Now, those are pairings that have serious soap potential.

The Chad Switcheroo Is Coming

Another reason we hope this is the end of the line for Cat and Chad is that a shake-up looms for the latter. In the New Year, Flynn will exit the role, and Chad will likely be off-screen for a while.

When Chad returns, The Young and the Restless alum Conner Floyd (ex-Chance) will play the character. Floyd won’t make his DOOL debut until April 2026, which means Cat needs another storyline besides her not-so-successful romance with Chad.

The breakup of Cat and Chad was not only needed, but hopefully, it’s the last time the Peacock soap tries to put them together. Let them find love or lust with other people.

There are some good options for Cat for sure, but we will hold out thoughts on potential matches for Chad until Floyd hits our screens in the role.
