Justin Hartley and Sofia Pernas reunite on screen for an episode of CBS’ Tracker — and that’s just the beginning.
Tracker, which premieres in February 2024, centers on a survivalist named Colter (Hartley) who travels the country helping people and law enforcement solve various mysteries. As the series unfolds, viewers will learn more about how Colter’s past shapes his present life as a lone wolf who prefers to isolate himself from others.
The adaptation of Jeffery Deaver’s novel The Never Game allowed Hartley to star and executive produce the show alongside This Is Us producer and director Ken Olin.
“I love this role. I love everything about it. I’ve always loved playing strong women, and I think those roles have found me, to be honest,” Pernas told People at the time. “I’ve never played a cheerleader. I don’t know why. I really wanted to, but I didn’t think I could do it.”
Pernas went on to share how she worked with Hartley on the relationship between their characters.
“We didn’t really have a script for kissing,” she explained to Entertainment Tonight that same month. “We did some test moments where I felt like, are they kissing in this moment? It’s just because there’s so much history, and there’s so much tension, and there’s some life-threatening event that happened right before, so there’s all this pressure.”
Colter and Billie’s reunion exudes chemistry, but the fictional couple ultimately falls flat. However, Pernas doesn’t rule out the possibility of Colter and Billie crossing paths again in the future.
“I think she doesn’t like to be vulnerable, and I think if she were to have dinner with him, she would have to address the pink elephant in the room inside of herself and be like, ‘Oh my gosh, I really like this guy,’” Pernas noted to People. “I think she’s someone who probably doesn’t like to deal with her emotions as easily as she deals with other things.”

“Yeah, Sofia is in episode six. She’s a blast from the past. Colter had a relationship with her, and they used to run a rewards business together. And then she sold him out. “It’s not going well,” Hartley detailed to The Hollywood Reporter in February 2024. “They’ve had a rift in their relationship, and she comes back into his life for some reason, and they’re forced to work together to achieve a common goal.”
Hartley hinted that Billie would be more than just a regular guest star, adding, “When you get to episode six, you see this is way outside of Colter’s comfort zone. There’s obviously an attraction there, but something happened that was very sad.”
Pernas said her appearance on Tracker “opened a door” for a potential sequel.
“I love her. She’s a great character. She’s trying to hide a lot of things because she’s obviously very vulnerable,” she told ET. “I think that’s what’s great about watching both of them play. Obviously he’s very confident and commanding and powerful when he walks into a room, but I think, because of their history and everything going forward, it’s nice to see that peephole in vulnerability.” “I don’t think there’s room in Colter’s life for it to be a heavy repetition because they’re both in very different places all the time,” Pernas told Parade in March 2024. “But I think [Billie] just pops in and out of his life and messes up a few people, or maybe not, on the way out. That’s the beauty of this whole thing.”
