Birds of Prey Season 5 Episode 13 may have written off Sam Carver for good. As one of the newest members of One Chicago, Jake Lockett’s character has spent the last few years getting used to working at Firehouse 51. Aside from a few setbacks, both professional and personal, he’s seemed to have fully integrated into a tight-knit group. There have been a few times in the past when it looked like he might finally leave. So sadly, Carver may finally be retiring from Firehouse 51 after Chicago Fire Season 13, Episode 5.
In Birds of Prey, Firehouse 51 takes on multiple jobs. Kelly Severide and Wallace Boden’s replacement, Dom Pascal, investigate a fire, Mush McHolland investigates a bird strike at the firehouse, and Violet Mikami and Lila Novak rush a man with multiple stitches to the Med. Meanwhile, Carver’s personal storyline may be the most interesting as he continues to develop due to his ongoing relationship with Tori. After being delayed for a day, he is finally reprimanded for his misbehavior, leading to his last shift at Firehouse 51.
Stella Kidd Fires Sam Carver From Chicago Fire Season 13 Episode 6

Over the course of several episodes, Stella Kidd has noticed how much Carver has changed at work since he returned from his last vacation. With Pascal overseeing Truck 81 after being eliminated by her team in a row, wife Kelly Severide can’t afford any mistakes at this point. So with Carver not working at full capacity, every shift naturally becomes a problem. However, all the partying and drinking every night to hang out with his girlfriends eventually comes to a head. Chicago Fire Season 13, Episode 6. Kidd finally runs out of patience and sends Carver home in the middle of his shift. .
After giving Carver a tool he left at home due to another night out with his girlfriend, she advises him to leave Firehouse 51 and move to Austin, where there are more fire stations that better suit their lifestyle.
While Kidd doesn’t immediately fire his right-hand man for being lazy, Tori’s comments earlier in the episode may have impressed him. Is this the end of the cave at Firehouse 51?
It’s unlikely Carver will leave Chicago Fire.
Carver has considered leaving One Chicago several times before. Just enter Burning Chicago . In the Season 12 finale, he went on vacation again after a heartbreaking conversation with Violet about the state of their relationship. He eventually returned, but when he did, it was clear that he had changed. He became a party animal and an irresponsible member of the team. All things considered, Kidd’s rejection of Carver makes sense, but in the larger scheme of things, it could have been a result of all the near-departures he’s had over the past few years.

Fortunately, this setback turned out to be another coup for Carver. Chicago Fire recently promoted Jake Lockett to a series regular after playing a recurring character for the first few years despite appearing in a majority of episodes. The terms of his contract have not been disclosed, but it’s safe to say that NBC and Wolf Entertainment have long-term plans for the character. This means Carver will eventually reprise his role on Firehouse 51 and Truck 81. It’s unclear when that will happen, however.
Why Chicago Fire Can’t Afford to Lose Sam Carver Now
Chicago firefighters have had too many choices over the past few years.
At this point, One Chicago has gotten used to its character. While it’s sad to say goodbye to so many fan favorites, the show has used that to keep its shows fresh and exciting. It’s no secret that Chicago Fire has lost several key cast members over the past few years, including two original cast members, Chief Boden and Matt Casey. This is in addition to saying goodbye to some longtime Firehouse 51 employees like Blake Gallo and Sylvie Brett.
It’s also worth noting that Carver’s removal means Chicago Fire will have to cut short his romance with Violet before anything happens.
With that said, Chicago Fire needs stability at this stage , and letting Carver go just won’t cut it. Lockett is a great addition to the cast, and aside from not wanting him, losing him means Truck 81 will have to go hunting for a new member again. It’s also worth noting that writing Carver off means Chicago Fire will have to end his relationship with Violet before anything happens.
