“Fire Country” showrunner Tia Napolitano shared an update on Padalecki’s character during a recent interview with Collider.

“We love Camden Casey. I don’t have any updates on his return to Edgewater, so far,” Napolitano said. Her comments seemingly confirmed that Padalecki won’t be part of season 4, which premiered on Oct. 17, but could return to “Fire Country” down the line.

Luckily for Padalecki fans, the actor will appear in the upcoming fifth and final season of “The Boys” alongside his former “Supernatural” costars Jensen Ackles and Misha Collins.

While Padalecki is not returning for season 4 of “Fire Country,” Napolitano teased that there will be “a lot of new faces in Edgewater” this season.

“There are a lot of people coming through to shake things up, including people from our characters’ past,” she said. “We’ll get a new glimpse into Sharon’s (Dianne Farr) family.”

“Fire Country” stars Max Thieriot as Bode Leone, an inmate turned firefighter. Bode’s father, Vince Leone (Billy Burke), died after getting trapped in a burning building during the season 3 finale. Farr, who plays Billy’s widow and Bode’s mother, Sharon, took to Instagram earlier this week to address fan reactions to Billy’s death.

“I know some of y’all are angry. I see those notes also. And I FEEL you. But let me ask an honest question. If we only show the risk in this vocation, week after week, without at least attempting to portray the profound loss that comes to both a firehouse and a family when a key player – when one of their own – falls … wouldn’t we be skipping the deepest part of portraying firefighters?” Farr wrote.

“42’s chief is not going away easily or silently. Our writers have much to share on this. That honors the impact this character and this actor has made,” she continued. “Big feelings for the exit of Billy and Vince are a testament to his beautiful work.”

In addition to Thieriot and Farr, the “Fire Country” cast includes Kevin Alejandro (Manny Perez), Jordan Calloway (Jake Crawford), and Jules Latimer (Eve Edwards). Stephanie Arcila (Gabriela Perez) left the cast after season 3, but series co-creator Tony Phelan has stated that she may return in the future.

“We felt like [Bode and Gabriela] needed a reset,” Phelan told Deadline of the characters’ on again, off again relationship. “We love Stephanie, and we are committed to saying that the Bode-Gabriela story does not end here, it goes on. We’re hoping that we can bring [Gabriela] back, because we think that they have such great chemistry, and the audience is really invested in the two of them.”
