Gwen Returns to Salem
On the Tuesday, July 8, episode, Gwen is spotted back in Salem, both surprising Julie and Chad. Leo is shocked when he runs into his former best friend in the middle of Horton Town Square. She’s connected to the return of Julie’s grandmother’s necklace — the very necklace he has been helping Doug III try to track down. Will Leo find out her involvement now?
Gwen is still single, but her newfound wealth has given her a different perspective on the world. Soap Opera Digest caught up with Emily O’Brien, who plays Gwen, “The new writers have refined her,” the actress teased. “She went away and spent time with the elite, and now she has knowledge and status, so that’s been a different twist to come back and play her. She’s spending time with new characters, and it’s been fun to discover where everything is going with her now.”
Danger Lurks in Salem
Ari has no clue that being close to Doug III puts her life at risk. She is outside of Brady’s Pub, way too distracted to realize that Richie keeps watching her.
It looks like Kayla may have scared him off by stopping by her family’s pub. Ari takes a moment to catch up with her dad’s great aunt. Kayla and Ari have a conversation, but what is it about?
Later, Leo and Javi visit University Hospital to discuss the baby they have been helping to foster with Kayla. The child likely belongs to Tate and Sophia — a baby no one, not even Kayla, knows has been born. Leo has been struggling with the little one, and they are wondering if the baby requires medical care.
Rafe returns home and receives a hug from his sister, Gabi, as her daughter, Ari, watches with a smile. She doesn’t realize that Rafe knows exactly what she has been up to. Is this the moment when he busts her?
Rafe is spotted making a phone call. Could it be Cat on the other end of the phone? The two are secretly working together in an inter-agency operation to uncover the truth about what is really happening with EJ DiMera and the mysterious funds he has somehow secured to purchase University Hospital.
