Will Trent is back and episode 2 was a perfect continuation of the season premiere, with Will on the case to figure out who was extorting money from prisoner families, leaving behind car bombs, and of course who killed Agent Cricket. But the thing that was really missing this episode was Betty.
Because of the primarily prison setting for Will and his partner Faith, there was never really a chance to incorporate Betty into this episode. That being said, we did get a cute Betty moment to end this episode of Will Trent, and it included a moment with Nico as well.
After solving the case of the extortion and bombs, Will was back home and apparently trying to repair a broken toaster oven in his living room. Betty can be seen in the background staring at her dad as he struggles with not only trying to fix the toaster, but also with memories of trying to diffuse the bomb that killed Cricket in the first episode of this season of Will Trent.
Will Trent had to solve a massive case involving a prison, which meant we didn’t get as much Betty screen time
When Nico walks into the room, she immediately picks up Betty in order to bring the pup into the scene and makes her part of the discussion, and it was a nice moment of lightness that was much needed after everything that went down in the episode. The thing about Will Trent is that while it can have some lighter moments, it is also a relatively serious series, filled with criminal investigations, murders, mysteries, and more. So we rely on those Betty moments to give us a sense of lightness and fun.
We love seeing Betty on Will Trent for a lot of reasons. But a big reason for our appreciation of the pup is the fact that she creates such fun moments whether she is part of a scene with Will, Angie, or even Nico. This pup has helped create some fantastic scenes, and we can’t wait to see what the rest of Season 2 has to offer.
What did you think of the second episode? Were you disappointed with how little we got of Betty in this episode?
