Wedding bells could soon be ringing for Olympic swimmer Adam Peaty and his girlfriend Holly Ramsay, after a source clams they have been given the seal of approval by Holly’s famous TV chef dad, Gordon Ramsay.
Hell’s Kitchen star Gordon is reportedly ready to give Adam his blessing if he proposes to his daughter, with a source telling OK! that the chef thinks Adam would make the ‘perfect’ son-in-law.
The sportsman and former Strictly star was overcome with emotion as he won the silver medal for Team GB in the 100m breaststroke at the Paris Olympics, as he was cheered on from the side lines by his son George, 3, and Holly.
Tearful Adam gave Holly a huge kiss after his win, before taking to social media to declare that Holly had been “the best partner” to support his Olympic training, as he gushed about their “exciting future together.”
Holly has helped build Adam back up after a tough couple of years which saw him battle alcoholism and depression. The 2024 Olympics has seen him make a triumphant comeback to swimming after he took a step back from the sport for his mental health.
In 2022, he suffered a devastating blow after breaking his foot, and in the same year, struggled with the breakdown of his relationship with ex Eirianedd Munro, with whom he shares his three-year-old son, George.
After admitting he’d gone through “three years of hell,” the 29-year-old turned to faith and his Christian religion to become “a better person” to his partner Holly, who he credits with helping get his life back on track.
The loved-up pair first crossed paths in 2021 when he competed in Strictly Come Dancing alongside Holly’s sister Tilly Ramsay, with Adam still dating ex, Eirianedd at the time.
Adam and the mother of his child went their separate ways in August 2022. Almost a year after breaking up, in June 2023, the sports star and Holly went official with their new romance, sharing loved-up snaps from a holiday together in Rome.
And it wasn’t long before Adam was meeting Holly’s huge famous family at their home in Cornwall. Gordon, 57, and Tana Ramsay, 49, are parents to daughter Megan Ramsay, 26, fraternal twins, Holly Anna Ramsay and son Jack Scott Ramsay, 24, Matilda Ramsay, 22, who goes by Tilly, and Oscar James Ramsay, 5.
In 2023, Gordon and Tana broke the internet when they announced the arrival of their secret sixth baby Jesse James, with Tana opting to keep the pregnancy under wraps until their son’s surprise birth.
Family is evidently important to restaurateur and television presenter Gordon, who has already formed a close bond with Adam through their mutual love of sports, with the chef coming close to becoming a professional footballer in his teenage years.
“Gordon really approves of Adam, he’s definitely got the Ramsay seal of approval! Gordon is actually a former footballer himself, he’s good friends with the Beckhams, and he really appreciates all the sacrifices and training that a top sportsman like Adam puts into his career,” our source claimed.
They added: “He really likes Adam, how he treats Holly and is ready to give his blessing if he proposes to his daughter, which is seeming very likely. He would love the Olympian to be part of the family.
“These two are a perfect match. Holly herself is really happy, she’s fallen hard and she knows her dad thinks Adam will make the perfect son-in-law. He’s cool, he’s strict with his regime which Gordon admires, and he’s a good all-around guy – a perfect match for his daughter. Gordon and Adam have a great bond, too – they respect each other but they also have a lot of banter.”
And it looks like Gordon may even be set to become a grandad sooner rather than later, as our source maintains that dad-of-one Adam would love to welcome more children with Holly.
“All the signs are that there will be wedding bells on the cards – and even the patter of tiny feet. Holly can be quite choosy when it comes to men, but this time she is smitten – and it seems Adam is, too. He’s already talked about wanting more kids. The whole family loves him, they’re all supporting him and this is a couple that’s truly in love”.
Adam has also spoken about how the eight-Michelin-star chef played a crucial role in motivating him to curb his drinking problem and focus on being an Olympian again.
He revealed previously how he’s taken ‘guidance’ from his potentially future father-in-law, admitting that he’d felt inspired by the TV chef’s ‘professionalism,’ calling him a ‘high performer’ and an ‘incredible energy to be around.’
