I’m Sure Colter’s Romance Will Happen in Tracker Season 2
Colter Shaw’s romance with Reenie could be Tracker’s slow burn, despite Justin Hartley’s misgivings.
Other romantic possibilities for Colter include Billie Matalon, a fellow cast member played by Hartley’s real-life wife, Sofia Pernas.
However, Reenie is still Colter’s best chance at love, as they trust each other on the field together, as seen throughout Tracker Season 1. A central romance will still arise with Colter Shaw in Tracker Season 2, despite Justin Hartley’s comments on the matter. The series is set to premiere on CBS in 2024 and has quickly become one of the most popular TV series. Now that Tracker Season 2 is approaching, Justin Hartley has answered questions about what to expect from his series when Season 2 premieres in the fall. At San Diego Comic-Con 2024, he even commented on what to expect from Colter’s love life, and it wrapped up an intriguing romance that began to blossom over several episodes of Tracker season 1.
Hartley tried to quash any hopes when asked about a romance between Colter and Fiona Rene’s Reenie Green in Tracker season 2. However, I don’t believe that. Tracker season 2 needs the chemistry between Reenie and Colter, and as such, there will be a path for their feelings to continue to develop when the series resumes in the fall. I suspect Colter will have other opportunities for romance next season, and that’s another reason to keep the character open, but I know that love can still blossom for the two main characters of Tracker. I knew a slow-burn romance wasn’t out of the question for Reenie and Colter in Tracker season 2. That’s what Tracker season 1 set up for the co-stars. Reenie quickly established herself as a force to be reckoned with when the series premiered. The story goes that Reenie and Colter were ex-lovers, but it didn’t end well when Colter left after a night of intimacy without saying goodbye. However, in episode 1, Reenie symbolically forgave Colter when she freed him from prison. From then on, the pair continued to flirt occasionally.
Although they were playful and confrontational at first, Reenie actually had a serious relationship with Colter, and I was touched by how she constantly helped. As they began to build a working relationship, Colter and Reenie’s natural chemistry and comfort with each other became apparent. Throughout Tracker season 1, their relationship remained just friends because having a romantic relationship would have complicated the job and given the audience too much attention to the relationship at once. The same is true for season 2 — Tracker will be extending the story rather than acting on Reenie and Colter’s love story. However, I can see other interesting romantic possibilities for Justin Hartley in Tracker season 2 beyond Reenie. The first season of the series also introduced Billie Matalon, a tracker and bounty hunter who worked alongside Colter in season 1, episode 6, “Lexington.” It established the romantic relationship between Colter and Billie, including their rich and complicated pasts. Colter and Billie had previously worked together on a job, but their partnership ultimately ended in an unresolved betrayal. Billie’s appearance revealed that Billie had betrayed Colter in the past, and while their chemistry was clear, he didn’t trust her.
Justin Hartley’s wife, Sofia Pernas, plays Billie Matalon.
Justin Hartley said that the character of Billie Matalon “will definitely be back” in Tracker season 2, setting up another confrontation between Colter and Billie. So I’m sure there will be another episode about their blossoming romance. Unlike Colter and Reenie’s chemistry, Tracker acted on his and Billie’s chemistry in season 1, with the pair leaning in for a kiss before a phone call interrupted the moment. While Colter waited for a dinner date that was scheduled for the end of the episode, the female “reward” postponed it, leaving the door open for Billie to return in Tracker season 2.
